Growing up on game farms in South Africa, Sharon was deeply influenced by her father, a game ranger, who instilled in her a profound respect for nature. This early connection to the environment played a pivotal role in shaping her future business ventures. Based in Durban and a mother of two grown daughters, Sharon has always sought ways to travel smarter and more sustainably.
In 2020, she launched Case Closed Covers, a brand dedicated to providing a reusable and stylish alternative to traditional plastic-wrapped luggage. Frustrated by the wasteful nature of single-use plastic wrap at airports, Sharon envisioned a solution that would not only safeguard luggage from scratches and scuffs but also contribute to a cleaner planet. Case Closed Covers are proudly South African, crafted with zero-waste production practices, and sourced from local suppliers to ensure minimal environmental impact. The covers come in a variety of vibrant designs, allowing travellers to express their personal style while making an eco-conscious choice.
“I love traveling and want to keep my belongings safe, but I hated the idea of using plastic wrap that just ends up in landfills,” says Sharon. “Case Closed Covers was born out of the need for a practical and sustainable alternative that aligns with my passion for protecting the environment.”
Building on the success of Case Closed, in 2025, Sharon expanded her vision with the launch of Travel Caddy. This innovative product was inspired by a customer request for a protective cover for golf bags. Recognising a gap in the market, Sharon spent over a year developing a lightweight, water-resistant, and durable solution specifically designed for travelling golfers. The Travel Caddy is ultra-lightweight at under 1kg, made from strong water-resistant fabric, and features adjustable belly straps for a secure fit. A long zip allows for easy access and can be locked for added security, while padding around the club heads provides extra protection. The bag also includes a sturdy base for added durability and can be conveniently folded away when not in use.
