When De Krans produced its Premium White Moscato Perlé in 2012, it was the first of its kind in South Africa, introducing consumers to a sophisticated yet accessible take on the Muscat grape varieties. Premium by nature
For De Krans, calling a wine Moscato is about more than simply delivering a recognisable Muscat character. It has remained committed to producing its Moscato with at least 85% of the very best Muscadel and Hanepoot grapes, ensuring a consistent quality and delicious taste.
It is this focus on the grape that gives the range its distinctive character, naturally sweet and fruity taste, refreshingly vibrant finish with a delicate fizz that defines a perlé wine. And with relatively low alcohol levels (9%), the wines are made for easy, uncomplicated enjoyment.
Three Moscato styles
De Krans Premium White Moscato Perlé is the original, and the wine that started it all. Naturally sweet and wonderfully refreshing, it brings together classic Muscat characteristics with flavours of litchi, apricot and tropical fruit, complemented by hints of honey and exotic spice. Its gentle fizz and refreshing acidity make it equally at home served chilled on its own or alongside light summer fare.
De Krans Premium Moscato Rosé Perlé adds a playful splash of colour to the line-up. A touch of Pinotage gives the wine its beautiful blush-pink hue, while tropical fruit, strawberry, candyfloss, muscat and exotic spice create a fresh and vibrant profile. It is particularly well suited to summer salads, charcuterie and light meals – or simply enjoying outdoors with friends.
Then there is De Krans Premium Red Moscato Perlé, the boldest expression of the trio. Launched in 2017, the addition of 15% Pinotage transforms the wine’s character, bringing flavours of berries, litchi and soft ripe prunes together with muscat, strawberry, blackcurrant and exotic spice. Its vibrant fruit profile makes it an especially versatile partner for summer food, charcuterie and even mild curries.
