This connection reinforces connectivity between South Africa and South America while expanding access to LATAM Airlines’ network in the region.
Cape Town, July 2, 2026 – Today, LATAM Airlines inaugurated its new direct service between Cape Town International Airport and São Paulo/Guarulhos, making this route the second of the airline’s connections in the country, operating also from Johannesburg.
The route will operate three times a week and will provide passengers with access, via São Paulo, to more than 135 destinations in South America, including cities in Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, and Uruguay.
The flights will be operated using Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with a capacity for 300 passengers, including 30 Premium Business seats and 270 in Economy class, and an average flight time of approximately 9 hours.

From South Africa, passengers will be able to access Brazil and LATAM’s extensive network of destinations throughout South America more directly and efficiently”, said Thibaud Morand, Managing Director of LATAM Airlines in EMEA, Asia, and South Pacific.
The new operation will also increase cargo capacity between South Africa and South America, facilitating the transport of goods between both regions and strengthening trade flows between both markets.
The launch was celebrated today at Cape Town International Airport with an event attended by LATAM executives, airport representatives, institutional authorities, and key stakeholders from the aviation and tourism sectors.
The addition of Cape Town is part of LATAM Airlines’ international expansion and reinforces the company’s connectivity between Africa and South America. In addition to this new route, LATAM continues to operate the service between Johannesburg and São Paulo, and starting in December of this year, it will increase frequencies on that route, and as a result, by combining flights from both South African cities, the airline will operate daily flights to Brazil, expanding travel options for passengers and consolidating its presence in the African market. With these operations, LATAM continues to strengthen access from South Africa to its destination network in South America.

- From Cape Town: Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing at 15:50 and arriving at 19:50.
- From São Paulo: Departures on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, taking off at 22:45 and landing at 10:55(+1).
