On Thursday, The Body Shop hosted an inspiring morning for invited guests and customers to celebrate the newly revamped Nicolway store as well as the launch of two brand-new, limited-edition ranges.
The Body Shop at Nicolway has been transformed into a Workshop store format and a local destination for Changemakers to sample, smell, touch, enjoy and fully experience the 100% vegan, luxurious, skin-loving products that customers have come to enjoy from the brand.
The refurbishment is part of a bigger revamp project in South Africa, with eleven stores already redone. Three more refurbishments are set to take place in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Refilwe Mashego, Brand Manager for The Body Shop South Africa, says: “To a lot of people, the concept of changemaking can seem quite abstract. So, the launch of our Workshop stores is a very practical mission: to change consumer behaviour. We want to help people realise the importance of overall self-care, which includes a body care routine, and added to this, how they are capable of making small changes that can benefit communities and the planet. We want our customers to have fun playing with our products but also have conversations about issues that affect them, helping us campaign to progress equality.”
The Body Shop Workshop stores bring back the essence of the brand ethos, which encompasses community, planet and customer, inspiring and equipping changemakers with the new sustainably designed store concept.
Like other The Body Shop workshops, Nicolway is fitted with upcycled and reclaimed materials including wood and plastic that were destined for landfill. Down to the lightweight aluminium facade, every care has been taken to ensure the environmental footprint is as small as possible.
“The newly renovated The Body Shop store offers a fully interactive and joyful beauty experience, where you explore products, share ideas, learn about the 100% vegan ingredients and the rich stories of the people and plants behind them, additionally, discover how we can campaign against injustice,” says Mashego. Encapsulating sustainability with self-care, the event conveyed the premium ingredients, luxury pampering and visionary activism that The Body Shop is known for. Guests were treated to a delicious brunch and were divided into groups to experience the three in-store stations where they sampled products and learned about the store features.
With the amazing energy of the invited guests, customers and partners, the launch event encouraged everyone to commit to a body care routine, look after their own well-being and that of communities, and to do right for the planet.
New, limited-edition Bluebell and Yuzu
Guests loved the highly-anticipated Bluebell and Yuzu ranges as they both exude, contain and, as such, extend South African summer. “South Africans are good at lengthening and really savouring the holiday feel, and the new, limited edition ranges help do just that. Yuzu is citrusy and zesty, perfect for an evening out. Bluebell has delicate, floral octaves that make you feel like you’re walking in a forest filled with bluebells,” says Mashego.
About Bluebell:
With petal-soft textures in a delicate aquatic floral scent, the Bluebell range is perfect for dewy-looking skin. The soft and creamy textures apply silkily onto skin, in a fresh watery spring scent with notes of bergamot, wild hyacinth and cashmere. The range includes a brand-new product innovation: The Bluebell Body Butter Melt – an ultra-hydrating, skin-softening hero that instantly absorbs into skin. Other products in the range include shower cream, hand cream and body mist.
About Yuzu:
Yuzu is a collection of illuminating and lightweight body care infused with yuzu extract. The range, which includes a shower gel, water-gel body yoghurt and body mist, offers skin-quenching textures in a fresh and zesty citrus floral fragrance with notes of bright yuzu blossom, pineapple and yuzu sorbet. It feels and smells like a fresh squeeze of yuzu.
These amazing ranges are available at The Body Shop stores nationwide and online at www.thebodyshop.co.za.
